Sun, Surf & Sandcastles

Trip Report

With 7 vehicles, we left Byford and headed to Preston Beach. It was an uneventful trip with the convoy arriving at Preston Beach about 9.30 where another vehicle was waiting for us.

After letting tyres down and a couple of driving tips for the visitors we headed north along the beach for about 5km to a wider part of the beach where we could park without hindering others travelling along the beach.
The sea breeze was already in and slowly got stronger during the day adding to the challenge of creating and preserving our sandcastles until judging time.

Some of our very enthusiastic builders completed their structures very quickly and had to try to protect them for considerable time before judging.
There were many different styles of sandcastles built making it hard to judge so I recruited one of our visitors to assist me.
After serious deliberation Lynette was judged the winner with her 4WD Ute. Prizes were also given out for the losing creation and an encouragement award.

I think next time we will have a theme for the competition so it will be easier to judge.
After lunch we continued north along the beach to White Hills where we pumped up tyres and headed back towards Perth.

Thanks to everyone who came along.
