Association Gathering Albany

4-5-6th June 2016

Armadale 4WD Club can be very proud of the support given to the Association Gathering at Albany, Largest attendance of any Association Club - a total of 27 people attended from Armadale.

The Albany Rifle Shooters Club venue was ideal with lots of room for caravans, camper trailers and tents. The Club House was a big asset for the activities and a great meeting place for those who wanted to keep warm and socialize. Association purchased a ton of wood and don’t think there was much left. The campfires and wood heater in the club room burnt for most of the weekend

A special thanks to Glenys Hughes and Jesse Lindner for their assistance in setting up the tables for the “Dance”. It was a bit difficult making room for all the tables required but they never gave up and eventually we made it!!!! Band appeared well received and think there were a few fuzzy heads the next morning.

Albany 4WD Club ran trips on Sunday and also Tony Vagg from Perth 4WD Club ran a trip. Members from Armadale went on different trips, a few mishaps and breakdowns but all arrived back safe and sound after a great day.

Then it was onto the Quiz Night – bit of a challenge between the two Armadale tables until one leapt ahead. Huge challenge between LROC Ladies and LROC Men with the Ladies winning. Lots of prizes during the night, think nearly everyone in attendance received something with the main prize being a HUGE hamper. Mark Skeels from Peel was the Quiz Master and kept everyone on their toes and tested their knowledge.

Weather was mostly kind to us – certainly had all four seasons on the weekend, some mornings freezing cold but we all survived.

BBQ Breakfast Monday morning – many bacon and egg burgers supplied and then it was home for the majority.

A few diehards stayed another night and the hall was well used again with a “Happy Hour” and byo dinner in front of the fire.

Lots of work involved with the organising of the Gathering but from what I could tell and reports received, everyone appeared to enjoy themselves.

Plans are afoot for the next Gathering – again long weekend in June 2017 and we hope the venue will be Geraldton

Hope to see you then

Jan Hank
