Hello Belvedere Trip Report 12-14th January 2024

Unfortunately several members had to pull out of the trip so Michael and Julia headed down to the bush camp on Friday afternoon. Andrew and Thomas joining us as we set up camp. We had a quiet evening but watched storms approaching Perth and noted that they appeared to coming towards us so prepared for a wet night. As it turned out the storms didn’t come that far south and we had a very relaxed evening in enjoying the stargazing and spotting satellites.

Saturday morning after a big cooked breakfast we headed down to the beach and made our way towards the Australind cut. Julia taking her own track and making zig zags in the sand. We enjoyed a few hours watching the dolphins and playing in the water. By lunchtime it was warming up so we returned to camp in the shade and sat in the cool of the misting fan through the heat of the day

. We took a trip into town for a cooler break and looked around. By the time we returned to Michael who was relaxing at camp the temperature had dropped and we had a great evening with the colourful parrots coming down really close to our chairs to share the crackers with us.

Sunday we packed up and drove up to meet Sarah, Fred and Aria at Myalup. Here we played Frisbee on the edge of the water and swam before heading up towards Preston Beach. The going getting softer as we approached the beach exit. A couple of cars were bogged and Sarah, Fred and Michael helped them, with Fred taking the wheel of their car after letting their tyres down further and using the recovery tracks. Whilst this was happening Andrew, pulling the trailer, self-extracted successfully. Hovering about whilst this was going on was the local recovery guy with his tractor hoping to be called to help.

We then stopped for lunch on the beach before separating with Fred Aria and Sarah heading further up the beach towards White Hills and the rest of us airing up before heading home.

Thank you to all who came along.

Jules and Andrew
