Adelaide and Bob’s Track Weekend Trip Report.
2-3 November 2019
With fantastic weather leading up to our trip away Busselton/ Margaret River it was looking perfect for us to attempt the Adelaide Track. That was until 2 days prior to the weekend when the heavens opened and down came the rain.
Not put off by this, a few headed off on the Friday while the remaining of us met up and drove down to the meeting point Saturday morning.
We arrived at the beginning of the Adelaide Track where we met up with the first group. After airing down and a quick briefing we made our way onto the track. It wasn’t long before we came up to our first bit of water and after a volunteer walked it to the other side and seeing what was beyond that it was deemed that this was not passable. A brief look at the map and turned around for the first time. We went down the new track only to find it had been closed and revegetated. Hence then turnaround for number 2. We made our way back to the main road and headed in again further down the Adelaide track. Our luck was not holding out, as again we were met with another water crossing that looked more like a lake. So again, we were turned around for a third time.
Again, we headed back to the main road and found another track in. We headed down the Adelaide Track and came across more water. This time however we had had enough of turning around and attempted the hazard. It turned out to be a lot of fun and all the convoy made it through.
From then on, we came across more water, steep descents, washed out tracks and hill climbs. We continued along the track enjoying all the hazards and testing our vehicles.
By mid afternoon we had completed the Adelaide Track and we made our way to our campsite for the night.
That night we all enjoyed a good relaxing time around the campfire.
The next morning, we were all up early, packed up and headed over to Bob’s track. When we got there, we found that the entry to the track had been repaired and for those of us that had done it before we were very disappointed as previously it was challenging and a lot of fun to drive. Luckily the remainder of track was as still as challenging as it was before. Half way up we found a wrecked X-Trail which only confirmed this track was not for soft roaders. Finally we all made it onto the sand and drove to end of the beach where we had a quick group photo.
From there we drove back out the way we came. At the beginning of the track we found an area to air up and as we all wanted to do different things on our way home we said our good byes to hit the road home.
