Hungi Trip Report
13th - 15th September 2019

Thanks to all who attended the Hungi it was a great weekend. Below is a few photos and a few words to capture the fun that was had by all.
Saturday morning and it was all hands on to prepare the pit, whilst that was happening a group was preparing all the vegies and the meat in reediness for cooking, something about burying perfectly good food!!

The food was successfully buried in the pit and covered at 1pm. Thanks to Horrie for making the new baskets, plenty of room for all the meat and vegie. Now the wait begins before we dig up the food at 6.00pm
The great damper cook off then commenced.

What a damper feast it was sweet, savoury you name it! Congratulations to Mick & Helen for first place, Kathy and I managed second place (yeah, yeah Kathy is the master cook with a yummy bacon and cheese damper, my teeth breaking damper is still cooking from years ago) well done Kathy. Well done all there were so many great dampers made and I know the judges had their work cut out.

A great decision to have the damper cook off at lunch time so we all had time to rest our tummies before the feast at dinner.
The afternoon for some was spent relaxing around the great fire and a group played cricket, the kids and big kids loved it. David was also flying kites with the kids.

David and I did the mandatory check the food pit praying the mound of sand was warm, and yes it was thank god.
Dinner was a success and time to sit and enjoy a few drinks and warm our bodies by a great fire.

The next morning Jan, Bob, Kathy Myself and out resident chef Michael cooked bubble and squeak, rather tasty. Michael showed off his wizardry with some tossing of the creation in the pan.

Thanks to all who attended the trip? Dave and I look forward to next year’s Hungi.
Thanks

Peter and Dave
