Armadale Annual Clubman/Presidents Awards and 35th Anniversary Weekend

Trip report August 2019

With a handful making the journey down on the Friday to make it a full weekend away, the majority of other members and the morning convoy arrived around lunchtime on the Saturday.
Those that were there from Friday night decided to head into Bunbury in the morning to check out the ARB open day at their brand-new store. While there Glen Mc was given financial approval to look at a new fridge and he did more than just look, he walked out with a new 78ltr model at a bargain price, enjoy that new beer fridge Gleno…
The girls we believe went for a walk into town to have a look around. Boring…….

Once back at camp a walk around to welcome the other members and a beer or two was shared amongst all.
As the hours passed all were busy catching up and sharing a few stories of recent adventures.
We had decided to have the presentations at the caravan park at 4pm along with afternoon nibbles and what a feast that came out from everybody to share, well done all.

So, the awards for tonight were to name the annual Clubman winner and the President’s award recipient.
With a massive points tally of just over 600 points the clubman winner for 2019 is Trevor & Elizabeth Harding…. 2nd place – Andrew Phillips, and 3rd place went to Rob Venables.

A special mention to all those that contributed this year to running trips and generally attending club events, there was a good spread of points to a lot of members and not just the usual few running trips. Well done all.
For the President’s award winner this went to Glen & Amy Usher…. Well done guys.

The president then spoke about the club briefly and the last 35 years, also acknowledging a few in the crowd.
With the formalities now complete, a bit more chat and devouring the delicious nibbles while a few started to filter off and get themselves ready for the dinner at the local Brunswick Tavern.
Once all were ready, the short walk up to the pub was underway, upon entering we noticed a roaring fire going and a great warm atmosphere with a few locals at the main bar and a number of TV screens on with all the footy games and also the crucial 3rd Test match…..

We had 2 large tables in the dining room for us all ready laid out, it wasn’t long before the entrées came out and by 7:30 the main meals were being served.
A big thanks to the tavern for putting on a great feed the meals were amazing and nice big servs too, I’m pretty sure no one went away hungry…

For dessert there was surprise birthday cake for Tanya Sims brought out for all to share, Happy Birthday Tanya….
As the night went on, all were happy chattin away with some ducking out occasionally to check the cricket score, it was getting tense, we were lucky enough to have the eagles’ game on in the dining room, unfortunately not a great result in the game in the end though.

Some had decided to head back and get the fire going back at camp, what a great idea as once the last of us had returned it was a welcome sight to see the fire roaring away, as it was pretty cold in Brunswick, I can tell you…

Thanks to all that attended the weekend and although there were freight trains running at regular intervals thru out the night, I think we can all agree it was another great weekend away with the club and again congratulations to the night’s winners…

P.S. there was one more unofficial award given out at the presentations, and this is one award you really don’t want to win, but it is all in a bit of fun….
The Oh Damn It…. Award was finally handed over to one of our newest members Vicki McGrady for her recent exploits in breaking one of her shock absorbers in half…. And a fuel tank that looked like it had been pummelled into an entirely new shape…. And all while driving around for weeks in this condition, before the mechanic told her the bad news…

Well done Vicki on winning this award… now it's your mission to find someone else to hand it off too…
