LANDOR RACES Trip Report

September 28th to October 2nd 2017

Plans can always change and our planned trip to Landor through wildflower country didn’t happen. We decided to add Landor on the end of our 3 month holiday in Queensland the north of Australia.
In the end we met George and Annice in Carnarvon for a few days and then left them to go to Gascoyne Junction for Wednesday night.

Thursday morning we fill up with fuel and travel towards Landor meeting Trevor and Wendy along the way. After a quick catch up and morning tea we drive to Landor Homestead and out to the race track arriving around lunch time. After finding a campsite and setting up we have time to relax and have lunch. After George and Annice arrived we went for a walk around and watched the farrier filing the horse’s nails and shoeing Later that evening there was a free sausage sizzle as a welcome for the early campers.

It was a great weekend every day started with a walk around the track to keep Annice’s fit bit happy. Friday was a do what you like day with the children’s disco in the evening. Saturday was racing with the footy on the TV’s but unfortunately the big screen didn’t turn.

Saturday evening was the ball. The theme for the ball this year was Neon Lights which had us all in a flap trying to decide what to wear especially Bob and myself as we were traveling. I will leave you to judge.
We all had a great night at the ball with a live band and DJrev who is the life of any party. Every one was up dancing untill late.

Sunday was the childrens Gymkana in the morning and the adults in the afternoon. Monday was the big race day where we dressed in our finary and had a go at winning some money off the bookies.

If you would like to see more go to YouTube ‘Landor Races 2017’ you may see us dancing.

Thank you to all who came.
